Who we are
Nick’s passion for the environment and the love of the outdoors started from an early age, growing up on his Dad’s family farm.

Twenty years ago, he decided to turn that passion into his career. It began with his first job at a tree nursery, before moving into general forestry and then honing his skills and expertise in the timber harvesting sector.
He achieved his National Diploma
in Forestry Contracting in 1995.
Alongside his qualification he gained valuable on-the-job training. He is a self-taught harvest operator, proactively watching and learning from others to improve his skills.
Nick then broadened his experience in Scotland and further afield in Europe, working on projects in Norway, Sweden, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

After spending so much time cutting trees down, he dreamed of reversing this trend and focusing his efforts on putting trees back into the ground.

And so Aber Forestry was created in February 2016. Now he brings a wealth of over 20 years’ experience, knowledge, industry contacts and best-practice techniques to his own business.

The company is very much a family venture. Nick’s wife, Rhian, is in charge of balancing the books, allowing Nick to spend the majority of his time outdoors. He’s also keen to pass on his skills and expertise to the next generation, inspiring his son Archie to nurture and protect the environment.
